Day 102...

SUNDAY 14.12.14 - I am thankful for... Operation Christmas Child

Can you believe it? Only 11 days until Christmas! It seems to have come so fast, in fact, this entire year has gone so fast! At church tonight during prayer I was reminded of Operation Christmas Child, run by organisation Samaritan's Purse. Each year hundreds of shoe boxes full of toys, clothes, toiletries, stationary and more are sent to children in third world countries would live in poverty and wouldn't otherwise receive a present at Christmas. It won't solve poverty, but it lets a child know that someone, somewhere half a world away cares enough for them to give them something for Christmas, giving them hope. Shoe boxes are packed months in advance (this photo was taken a few months ago) as you can imagine the amount of organisation that goes into this sort of operation. However, I was reminded again about this great organisation and imagine the smiles on the children's faces as they open their Christmas presents, some for the very first time in their lives. I am thankful for opportunities to give like this one.
