Friday 05.12.14 - I am thankful for...Water fights!
Youth + water = WATER FIGHT! Tonight we played a lot of water games, using cups, spray bottles and a whole lot of water! Needless to say none of us got away unscathed. I honestly can't remember the last time I was part of a water fight. Probably not since primary school at least! Of course we tried to be careful not to be too wasteful with the water, but it was a heck of a lot of fun! Nothing like a water fight to beat the summer heat. Simple yet effective. It may not seem like much, but it was definitely something I was thankful for today.

Day 92...
THURSDAY 04.12.14 - I am thankful for... Dinner with Friends
*Picture from internet
This afternoon/night was the wedding rehearsal for my friends who are getting married on Saturday. Though I'm not involved exactly, my boyfriend is doing the sound so I got to tag along for the run through. It all went quite smoothly and everybody seems relaxed. Afterwards, we all went and had dinner together at a restaurant called Rashays. It was such a good night, so much so that I forgot to take a picture for the blog! Oh well. There was lots of laughter, sarcasm, stories and more. I realise I have used 'Sharing a meal' as a thankfulness topic before but this is more specific to a great bunch of friends for a special occasion. Everybody is obviously excited for what Saturday will no doubt bring, and I was very thankful to be a part of the excitement. So I'm thankful for the opportunity to hang out with friends. Bring on Saturday!

WEDNESDAY 03.12.14 - I am thankful for... Paying off my car
*My car as my best friend's wedding car :)
To pay for the car I currently own, I took out a loan back in mid 2010, for 5 years. I have now paid off the loan... 6 months early! Saving me a few thousand I'm sure! At the time it was necessary for me to take out a loan to get a new car, and I wouldn't have changed anything. RACV, the company I loaned from, were fabulous and the loan and repayments were really affordable for me. When I called on Monday to get the payout quote, the gentleman on the other end was very helpful and even congratulated me on paying it off early, and cancelled my automatic repayments on the spot. And as of today the money has been officially received and I should get the paperwork in the mail next week! Yay! The car is completely mine! And to top it off, it is a FABULOUS car that has never given me any issues. So I am thankful for putting a bit extra into the repayments over the years to get this outcome. Only debt left is a tiny bit on the credit card and my HECS/HELP debt. Woo!

Day 90... Almost made the century!
TUESDAY 02.12.14 - I am thankful for... The little things that put a smile on my face
Today was a fairly uneventful day. Nothing particularly bad or exciting happened. Work went well, busy this time of year but nothing I can't handle. I am on-call tonight and I'm hoping for no call ins. Nothing as yet. But I usually go to bed early just in case. So I was turning everything off to go to bed for the evening, when I walked past my Christmas tree... There, sitting on one of the branches was my house mate's son's toy Batman, who must have put him there sometime this afternoon. From a distance its dark colouring and size make it hard to see, unless you know it's there. I only noticed it just then as I walked past. How adorable! I couldn't help but laugh and post a picture of it, as well as send one to my house mate. It also reminded me of something I saw at work walking back to my office at lunch time. There was a little girl spinning her younger brother in his pram as their mum talked on the phone beside them. She was making plane-like noises while he smiled and giggled (hopefully didn't get motion sick!). You know those little, seemly insignificant things that you might miss but are either really funny or touching? Like a certain YouTube video, or interactions between people when you're out, or a nice gesture. It's sometimes the little things that can really change your mood, brighten up your day. I am thankful I got to witness these two little things that put just a little spark in my day.
Nana nana nana nana BATMAN!

Day 89...
MONDAY 01.12.14 - I am thankful for... December - the start of Christmas season!
Happy December 1st! 'Tis the Christmas season, the season to be jolly! This is undoubtedly my most favourite time of the year. I love everything about it, the decorations, the carols, the food, the festivities and most importantly, the family time. Of course it's also the celebration of the birth of Jesus, and we have Advent leading up to Christmas Day. So don't be surprised if my blog posts this month are to do with different aspects around Christmas. So to begin the season, I put on my playlist of carols and Christmas songs and decorated my tree and lounge room. So. Much. FUN! I'm quite happy with the end result too. I swear I buy at least one new Christmas decoration every year. So although it's a crazy busy time of year, I am thankful it's now December! Bring it on!

SUNDAY 30.11.14 - I am thankful for... Fruit
This afternoon was my friend's bridal shower and I was asked to make fruit kebabs and bring tropical fruit juice. Yum! I was able to get some grapes, bananas, mandarins and enormous strawberries. Alas, no watermelon though. Once I had sliced them all up into kebab friendly pieces, I noticed how wonderful the colours looked together. Bright and vibrant, sweet and juicy, reminding me of summer (which starts tomorrow! Yay!). How amazing is it that fruit, which is so good for you, can look so inviting in it's natural state? And they tasted delicious, even if I do say so myself. I am quite health conscious, as I'm sure I have mentioned numerous times before, but probably don't eat quite as much fruit as I could. I'm hoping to change that, this activity was a good reminder. So I am thankful for fruit, for healthy, nutritional and delicious food that is readily available to us. It just added to a wonderful afternoon with some fabulous gals :) Next on my fruit agenda... Mangoes!

SATURDAY 29.11.14 - I am thankful for... Will power
*Picture from internet
For many years now I have been battling with fatigue. Some days or weeks are worse than others. This was a bad week. I've really struggled with energy levels all this week, and this morning I just had to force myself out of bed without going to my Saturday morning Zumba class, around 11:30am. Half the day gone already! But I was determined to NOT go back to bed, instead I forced myself to do grocery shopping, got a power juice, forced myself to go for a walk and ate some steak for dinner. By evening I actually felt a little better! I'm really glad I found the will power to get up and moving. I was not sick, so my body didn't need to heal, just tired. So I'm thankful I was able to do that. Let's hope tomorrow will be a more energetic day!
